Walmart’s subscription-based service may be worth its price if you’re a shopper who lives near a Walmart store and enjoys its low prices and extensive selection of merchandise.
Another cool thing about Walmart Plus membership is that you can enjoy various perks when you shop at Walmart-owned companies, like Bonobos, Sam’s Club, and Moosejaw.
How To Become a Walmart Plus Member

There are two types of Walmart+ plans:
Monthly – $12.95 (plus applicable taxes)
Annually – $98 (plus applicable taxes)
How Much Does Walmart Plus Cost?
The Walmart Plus membership cost is $12.95 monthly (or $98 for annual billing).
If you use unlimited free deliveries at least twice a month, the subscription fee already covers the delivery cost (based on the standard delivery charge of $7.95).
Walmart’s subscription service is more affordable than Amazon Prime, which costs $12.99 monthly or $119 annually. Meanwhile, both offer a free one-month trial.
How To Use Walmart Plus Mobile Scan & Go
Sign in to your Walmart Plus account in the Walmart mobile app.
While in-store, open your Walmart account and select Scan & go.
Scan items and place them in your cart.
Go to the self-checkout register to scan the QR code that reflects the total cost of your purchase. You pay with Walmart Pay linked to your credit and debit card as payment methods.
At the self-checkout counter, you’ll receive a receipt that allows a Walmart associate to check your ID for age-restricted products, such as alcohol and tobacco.
Unfortunately, you can`t apply coupons with Scan & Go.
Walmart Plus Benefits
Here are the Walmart Plus perks you can enjoy.
Unlimited Free Delivery
You won’t pay a delivery fee if you spend at least $35 per order. Otherwise, the store will charge you a below-minimum fee of $5.99.
Remember, unlimited delivery is not available in all locations.

Free Next-Day and Two-Day Shipping
Unlike Walmart’s unlimited deliveries, there is no order minimum when you opt for next-day or two-day shipping.
Gas Discount
If you’re a Walmart Plus member, you can save up to 10 cents per gallon on gas purchases. These fuel discounts apply to Walmart, Exxon, Murphy USA, Murphys Express, and Mobil gas stations.
You can also fill up at Sam’s Club fuel stations, known for their lower prices. However, member prices on fuel don’t have additional discounts.
Mobile Scan & Go
With a Walmart+ membership, in-store shopping is quick and convenient.
Download the Walmart app, scan items as you add them to your cart, and go to the self-checkout register.
The Walmart mobile app also allows cashless payment and saves all your transactions and history. One downside is that it doesn’t let shoppers load in coupons.
Early-Deal Access
With a Walmart membership, you get early access to Walmart’s Black Friday sales events seven hours before the rest of the public. You have a headstart when shopping for heavily discounted merchandise!
You get early alerts and access to product releases and deals, which are helpful when there’s a limited supply of merchandise.
Spotify Access
With the Walmart paid membership program, you get six free months of Spotify Premium, the ad-free version of this popular music streaming service. You save approximately $60, given the cost of its subscription ($9.99 monthly).
Discounted and Free Prescriptions
Walmart Plus members enjoy up to 85% discounts on some selected prescription drugs at Walmart pharmacies.
Paramount Plus Essential Membership
Members can access Paramount Plus Essential Plan, an on-demand video service with an extensive library of TV series, reality shows, movies, and originals.

In-home Grocery Delivery
In-home grocery delivery is an optional add-on benefit where a Walmart courier delivers your grocery items directly to your refrigerator. However, the service is not available in some locations.

Members can enjoy cashback rebates on certain products, including grocery items, household supplies, gadgets, etc. Moreover, they can earn a maximum of $500 annually in these rewards.

Walmart Plus and Paramount Plus
Amazon Prime memberships include free access to its streaming service, Prime Video. Similarly, Walmart Plus offers a Paramount Plus Essential Plan subscription free.
Paramount Plus offers lots of local channels and sports content.
Amazon Prime Video has no local content and limited sports channels. However, it has a more extensive library of series, movies, and originals.
If you’re a sports fan and can access your local TV station, you can’t go wrong with Paramount Plus.
Prime Video may be a better fit for someone who loves TV series and original content.
Walmart Plus vs. Amazon Prime Membership
Walmart Plus is less expensive than Amazon Prime ($12.95 monthly or $98 annually for Walmart Plus vs. $139 annually for Amazon Prime).
However, the price shouldn’t be the only determining factor when choosing your subscription membership.
Another thing you need to consider is the list of add-on benefits. For instance, Walmart rewards members with fuel savings, whereas Amazon Prime offers free access to Prime Video and Prime Music services.
Walmart is a retail giant with around 4,650 stores across all 50 states. This number excludes other retailers it owns, like Murphy USA and Sam’s Club.
However, Amazon Prime is a more established subscription service launched 16 years ago.
